Biodata Format for Job Applications: What to Include
Use a practical biodata format for job applications, with guidance on personal details, education, experience, and privacy.

Biodata can mean different things across employers and regions. Before preparing one, check the application instructions and ask whether the employer wants a resume, CV, or biodata.
Core sections
A job biodata commonly includes name, contact details, education, experience, skills, certifications, and references when requested. Use clear headings and list the information in reverse chronological order where it makes sense.
Personal information
Some Indian applications may request date of birth, address, languages, or other personal details. Add only what is required for the specific context. Do not include sensitive identity, family, or financial information just because a template contains it.
Keep it job focused
Use accurate dates, a professional email, and a file name that identifies you. For private-sector roles, a modern resume is usually more focused and ATS-friendly than a long personal biodata document.
