Use a repeatable 15-minute process to tailor your resume to a job description without rewriting everything from scratch.

Customizing a resume does not mean starting over for every application. It means making the most relevant evidence easy to find.
Choose the target
Write the role title, seniority, and top responsibilities at the top of your working notes. Then identify repeated skills, tools, and outcomes in the job description.
Adjust the first third
Update your summary, lead with the most relevant skills, and move the strongest matching experience or project higher. Replace generic bullets with evidence that uses accurate language from the posting.
Run a final quality check
Read the resume as if you had six seconds. Confirm that the target role is clear, dates are consistent, and every keyword is supported by proof. Save a separate version with a clear file name so you can track which resume you submitted.
