Resume for an Internal Promotion: Show You Are Ready for More
Update your resume for an internal promotion by showing scope, leadership, results, and readiness for the next level.

An internal promotion resume should make your growth visible to people who already know your current role. Show the scope you have earned and the results behind it.
Write for the next role
Read the new job description and identify responsibilities you already perform, such as mentoring, planning, stakeholder communication, or ownership of a process.
Separate roles clearly
Keep the same employer but use separate entries for each title or promotion. This shows progression and makes dates and expanding responsibility easy to scan.
Lead with evidence
Use bullets that show the size of your work, the decisions you made, and the outcome. Mention cross-team projects, improvements, training, and recognition when they support the promotion. Your resume should complement your internal performance record, not repeat every task you have completed.
