How Do I List Freelance Work on a Resume?

Show freelance projects on a resume with a clear title, dates, clients or industries, deliverables, and results you can support.

Treat relevant freelance work as experience when it demonstrates skills for the target role. You can use a heading such as Freelance Designer, Independent Consultant, or Freelance Developer, followed by dates and a location or remote label.

Group similar projects when that makes the story clearer, then use bullets to show the work, tools, client or audience, and outcome. Protect confidential information and use a general industry description when needed. Include a portfolio link only when it is current and safe to share. Do not inflate project scope; specific, honest work is stronger than a vague claim.
