Should I Put References on My Resume?
Find out when references belong on a resume, how to list them, and what to do instead of writing references available upon request.

References usually do not belong on the resume itself. They take space away from evidence about your experience and are often requested later in the hiring process.
Prepare a separate list
Create a simple reference document with each person’s name, role, organization, relationship to you, email, and phone number when appropriate. Ask for permission before sharing anyone’s contact details.
Follow the employer’s process
If the application asks for references, provide the requested details in that field or document. Do not add references available upon request unless the employer specifically wants it. Use the resume space for relevant achievements and skills.
